Tyler Herro, a guard with the Miami Heat, spent the previous few seasons as a trade asset.
He listened to his name being brought up during the Damian Lillard trade negotiations last summer. The same thing happened in 2022 and 2021 when the Heat were linked to players like Bradley Beal and Kevin Durant.
Let’s stop calling Herro a piece now. Unless you’re referring to the focal point. Herro is demonstrating his ability to take the lead.
He finished Sunday’s victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers with 34 points, seven assists, and six rebounds. Herro has averaged 24.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and five assists thus far this season. He is far more than a mere trading chip.
Herro responded, “Nothing yet,” when asked what he had done thus far this season. For me, it feels like a typical season. I simply arrived with a more positive attitude. I’m making an effort to follow that, let it come to me, and see what transpires.”
The Heat are three wins in a row. If the success keeps up, Herro should be selected to the All-Star team for the first time. He has accomplished this as Bam Adebayo has struggled with inconsistency and Jimmy Butler has fought ailments. Defences are now centred on Herro.
