In Norman, the Oklahoma Sooners are attempting to turn the clock back and rebuild their offense, bringing back the explosive offense that they had in years past. It’s been a little bit since they had that, and in the SEC you have to have a good offense. We saw what happened for the Sooners last season with just a good defense.
So, the Sooners will need to hit recruiting hard. They did well in the transfer portal this year, but need to continue to build something for years ahead, even if it’s possible Brent Venables is no longer with the program, or even if Ben Arbuckle isn’t in town by 2026. So much can happen between now and then, as we saw this year.
Luckily for the Sooners, who only have three players committed in their 2026 class — they could land an elite receiver for that class.
Jordan Clay, a standout 4-star wide receiver from the 2026 class, attends Madison High School in San Antonio, Texas. With his towering height of 6’4″, which is especially tall for a wide receiver in high school, Clay possesses the physical tools to dominate. His remarkable abilities have made him a prime target for recruitment by numerous top-tier college football programs.
His combination of size and agility makes him particularly dangerous in the end zone, where he’s often the preferred target for high, contested catches. Moreover, his speed and adeptness in running routes make him a versatile player capable of making plays anywhere on the field.
By early 2025, Clay had received multiple offers from prestigious universities but has teams like Baylor, Texas A&M, Texas, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Arkansas, and Oklahoma in his top seven schools. His recruitment process is ongoing, with much anticipation around his decision.
The Sooners could use a guy like him in 2026.
