Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian learned a thing or two from legendary Alabama head coach Nick Saban.
Sarkisian has taken a similar approach to his coaching staff as Saban did while at Alabama. Saban typically hired former head coaches and big names from other programs as assistants. Sarkisian, Lane Kiffin and Bill O’Brien are a few names that come to mind who received a fresh start under Saban.
Over the past few years, Sarkisian hired former Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst and former TCU head coach Gary Patterson in special assistant roles. On Tuesday, Rivals’ Anwar Richardson reported former West Virginia head coach Neal Brown is expected to be added to Sarkisian’s coaching staff. It’s unclear what Brown’s role will be on the staff.

This marks the second hire from the Mountaineers this offseason. Shortly after Texas running backs coach Tashard Choice accepted a role with the Detroit Lions, Sarkisian hired former West Virginia running backs coach Chad Scott to fill the vacancy.
Brown spent six seasons in Morgantown and had former stints with Troy, Kentucky, Texas Tech, Delaware, Sacred Heart and UMass
